The internet media – including science outlets – almost always gets it wrong when they call things ‘glow in the dark’. The fluorescent proteins have transformed research but they are just that – fluorescent and not self-luminescent. Yes, ‘glow in the dark’ sounds cool, but hey, this is science and we should get the language right.
