Custom Fluorescence Filter Holder for an Underwater Vehicle

What do you do when you need to let air and water circulate but can’t let light get out? That’s the challenge we faced in adding a fluorescence excitation filter to a custom diver propulsion vehicle. You can’t allow air to be trapped behind the filter or it will break as the diver descends and a pressure differential builds up on opposite sides of the glass. The answer was to make a custom 3D-printed filter holder that allowed easy air and water flow while not providing a direct path for light. Read the full article.
